Money Making Careers for the Average Person

At some point or another, we’ve all probably dreamed of landing a money making career that will see us nicely settled into a big house with a nice car. Unfortunately, not all of us are cut out for the typical high-paying careers such as surgeons, general physicians, and lawyers. But, there are other careers out there that pay very well and do not require one to spend eight years in education. We are going to discuss some money making careers for the average person that may just surprise you!

If you’re good with computers, you may want to pay attention because there is money to be made in this field of work! We now live in a world that is literally powered by computers. Everything from the nuclear missiles to your satellite TV relies heavily upon well equipped and maintained computer systems. A systems administrator or analyst would be a great career to go into because it offers stability as well as a yearly salary around $50,000. While that may not be in the six figure range, it’s definitely a nice pay for an enjoyable job that doesn’t necessarily require a great deal of education if you really know your stuff.

Internet marketing has become a huge outlet for people who are good with marketing and know their way around the net. Marketing is one of those money making careers that has been around for a long time, and will continue to grow as it utilizes the world wide exposure that the internet brings to the marketplace. With a salary figure around $65,000 for an internet marketing specialist and $124,000 for an internet marketing sales executive, there is plenty of work and money to go around.

You might be a little surprised to learn that a career in law enforcement makes this list of high paying jobs. The average median salary for a police officer is around $48,000 and all you need is a high school diploma for this position. Okay, so that’s not strictly all you need. Basic training at the police academy is also a requirement for most states. That’s understandable as the men and women who are going to protect communities need to know how to do so safely and within the limits of the law. So, if you have an inner hero just dying to get out, you might want to consider becoming a police officer!

If you’re good with numbers, you might want to consider the industry of finance. A financial analyst can make up to $97,000 per year, although these jobs are getting a little harder to come by these days. It’s definitely a good business to get into if you have the aptitude and desire, for as long as there are businesses around and currency to exchange, the industry of finance will thrive. While most people going for this sort of position do have an MBA (that’s a Master’s in Business), there are still plenty of businesses seeking people with strong knowledge or experience in business, economics, or accounting.

Back to the computer industry (I know, I know…but it’s really thriving right now!), software developers can earn up to $90,000 a year. An educational background that is supportive of computers and technology is a bonus, but it’s not always a necessity if you have the coding skills and a firm understanding of past, present, and developing technology. In fact, it’s not unheard of for large businesses to hire hackers to “test” the security measures of their software and offer advice on how to strengthen the program. So, if writing computer programs or hacking just happens to be a hobby of yours, you may want to consider looking into this line of work!

There are plenty of money making careers out there that are perfectly suitable for the average person. Our downfall seems to be the belief that we must have a college background or that we have to be super brainy to make a nice living with our job. That simply isn’t true. Ask yourself what it is you’re good at and explore your options. There’s a lot of money out there and plenty of jobs to fill!
